Time Trials Swim Meet and Kick-Off Party Details

Hi Parents and Swimmers,

Below are all the details about this week's parent meeting, the kick-off party, and upcoming swim meet. Please take a moment and read this valuable information.

PARENT MEETING (May 16th and 17th)
This Tuesday and Wednesday, the Board will host a parent information meeting at the pool pavilion during each swim session to discuss season expectations, swim meet logistics, regional/state meet logistics, and the practice schedule beyond May. This is for ALL families; please plan to attend.

KICK-OFF PARTY (May 18th)
Each year, we host a team kick-off party before the first swim meet of the season. It is a POTLUCK party and, instead of practice, all swimmers (and their families) will have access to the pool until 8 pm for fun games and goofy relays, etc. A team picture will be taken at 5:30, so please have all swimmers on deck at that time, regardless of their swim session. We ask that everyone sign up for a potluck item. If you didn’t receive the sign-up link for the party, please let us know and we can get it to you.

SWIM MEET REGISTRATION

Registration for the first swim meet of the season is now open!!!!!! CLICK HERE.

Our annual Time Trials Swim Meet will be Saturday, May 20th from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. All swimmers are encouraged to declare they will or will not be attending this meet. For new families, this is a chance for your swimmer to see what a swim meet is all about. This is a smaller meet because there are no relays. It is a great opportunity for all swimmers to record swim times for seeding in future meets.

It is understandable that new swimmers may be apprehensive about swimming in a meet so early in the season, but seeing is believing and we are confident your swimmer will love the Tiger Splash swim meet atmosphere (and halftime dancing). Because there are fewer events (no relays), this allows the meet to move at a moderate pace and not be too overwhelming for our new swimmers. (Even if your swimmer doesn't feel ready, we encourage you to register them up for a freestyle event or more to gain the experience.)

Registration will close this Wednesday night (5/17). If you have any questions, there will be time to discuss details at next week's Parent Meetings. Most importantly, we ask that ALL FAMILIES access the link even if you will miss the first meet (to designate that your swimmer will not attend). A few instructions are listed below to help navigate the registration process for your swimmer.

1.Access Registration- If the link above is not working, simply login to SwimTopia and click on the Schedule Tab. Scroll to the May 20th Time Trials Meet and click the green “Meet Entry” button.

2.Swim Meet Status- Edit the swim meet status for each swimmer in your family (select Attending or Not Attending).

3.Select Events- Swimmers 10 & under may select up to 3 events. Swimmers 11 & up may select up to 4 events. (Note: 6 & Unders are encouraged to complete the freestyle and kickboard races unless experienced in other strokes)

4.Sign-Up for Volunteer Position- Click on the green “Sign Up for Job Shifts” button and volunteer for a position. We rely on a team of volunteers to help with the swim meet. Most positions are on the day of the event and fall into 1st-half and 2nd-half timeslots. A few positions are scheduled for the Monday following the meet (ribbons and beads). Please, if at all possible, volunteer for at least one job slot per family.

IMPORTANT: Parents will be allowed on the west pool deck during the meet; tents and chairs will not be allowed on deck and can be setup outside the perimeter of the pool fence.

The heat/psych sheets along with other helpful meet details will be emailed out at the end of the week prior to the upcoming meet.

Please let us know if you have any questions at all. We are so excited and are looking forward to seeing all our swimmers in their first meet of the season!
