Preparing for a Meet

  • Eat a good dinner with plenty of carbs and low amounts of protein the night before
  • Go to bed as early as possible
  • Eat a light breakfast such as cereal and a banana or an energy bar
  • Drink plenty of water the day before the meet
  • Avoid energy or soft drinks and sugary snacks before you swim
  • Upon Arrival at the Pool:
    • Check-in your swimmer at the gate. They will remain in the pool pavilion until the lifeguards are in place in the pool area. Adults will be allowed in to setup their family’s viewing area.
    • Use the sheets posted on the pavilion wall or purchase a heat sheet to mark your child for their event. Marking is as follows:
      • Mark on their LEFT bicep with their Event number, Heat number and Lane number
    • Put sunscreen on AFTER you have marked your child. (the marker will NOT write on arms with sunscreen on them). Spray sunscreen can smear the marker. Lotion will work better in this area.
    • A helpful tip: Keep snacks elevated, either on a table, on the fence, or on the back of your chair, to keep the ants away!
